AI, Conversational Interfaces, and Ethical Design
An advanced course on designing genuinely trustworthy AI-assisted experiences: calibrating honest confidence and transparency, designing graceful error recovery and real human control, setting honest expectations, and pacing disclosure; building conversational and generative UI patterns — turn-taking, prompt affordances, generative layouts, streaming, multi-modal interaction, and direct iteration; and applying ethical frameworks — recognizing dark patterns, privacy by design, bias awareness, consent and disclosure, and building a genuine ethical review step into a team's actual workflow.
By the end of this course you can design AI-assisted features that earn genuine trust through honest confidence, transparency, error recovery, and real human control, build conversational and generative UI patterns that handle varying output, fabrication risk, streaming, and iteration gracefully, and apply ethical frameworks — dark-pattern avoidance, privacy by design, bias awareness, disclosure, and accountability — that turn a working AI feature into one that is genuinely safe to ship rather than one that quietly causes harm the moment it reaches a real population of users.

Completed Course progress automatically counts toward the Career Path when this Course belongs to a Mission.
- Builds directly on this curriculum's earlier advanced courses rather than repeating their ground
- Every pattern is grounded in a concrete structural technique or interaction discipline, not abstract theory
- Every lesson ends with a worked example you can practice on
- Covers the full path from a single AI-assisted feature to a genuinely trustworthy, ethically reviewed capability
- Advanced learners who have completed this curriculum's earlier advanced courses and are ready to design AI-assisted, conversational, and generative features responsibly
- Product designers building a chat interface, a generative writing or content tool, or any feature where an AI model's probabilistic behavior directly shapes what a person sees
- Designers who have watched an AI feature earn either false confidence or premature distrust, or watched a conversational interface forget context or force a full restart on a small mistake, and want a real discipline for avoiding both failures
- Anyone who needs to take an AI feature from initial trustworthy design through conversational and generative UI patterns to a genuine, safe ethical review before it ships
- 30 short, focused lessons across 3 progressive levels
- A graded quiz after every lesson and a 12-question exam per level
- Three continuous worked examples (an AI-assisted feature, a generative conversation flow, and a full course capstone spanning all three levels) for a fictional writing application, Wordloom, threaded through the closing lessons
- Assumes prior advanced-level familiarity with UX practice — goes straight to AI-assisted trust, conversational and generative patterns, and ethical review
Awarded after the Course's configured completion requirements are met.
