Prototyping and Testing AI-Powered Experiences

Learn to prototype and test AI-powered experiences whose behavior is variable, probabilistic, and sometimes wrong — before the real AI system is production-ready. Build believable Wizard-of-Oz prototypes, simulate good, weak, uncertain, and failed outputs, design latency and failure states as testable experience, and run usability tests that separate a model-quality problem from a UX-design problem.

By the end of this Course, you can choose an appropriate prototype fidelity for AI behavior, build a disclosed Wizard-of-Oz or scripted-response test, design and test latency/failure/uncertainty states, and run a test that separates model-quality problems from UX-design problems with defensible behavioral evidence.

01Choose the right prototype fidelity for testing AI behavior, and know when real AI is required versus when simulation is enough
02Build believable Wizard-of-Oz prototypes and scripted response sets that stay honest without deceiving participants
03Simulate variability and good, weak, uncertain, and failed AI outputs realistically
04Design latency, streaming, partial-output, interruption, and failure states as testable parts of the experience
05Design retry/regenerate, recovery, and correction paths, and build a state matrix covering the nondeterministic behavior space
06Observe overtrust and undertrust in real sessions, and test confidence cues without implying false precision
07Write AI-specific test tasks, capture rigorous behavioral evidence, and separate model-quality failure from UX-design failure
08Synthesize test findings into concrete, defensible design changes

What You'll Gain
  • Builds one practiced prototype-and-test judgment across 30 bilingual Lessons
  • Keeps every test claim tied to real behavioral evidence, never a polished demo alone
  • Separates what a test actually showed from what a confident walkthrough would prefer to imply, at every step
  • Uses scenario-based assessments to rehearse the real judgment calls of a working Product Designer's AI-prototype-testing practice
Who Is This Course For?
  • UX/Product Designers who need to test an AI experience before the underlying model is built or production-ready
  • Designers preparing a Wizard-of-Oz or simulated-behavior prototype for a real usability test
  • Researchers and designers who need AI-specific test tasks, not generic usability-testing templates
  • Anyone who must separate a model-quality problem from a UX-design problem after a test session
Course Features
  • 3 progressive Levels and 30 substantive bilingual Lessons
  • 30 Lesson Quizzes with 10 scenario-based questions each
  • 3 Level Exams with 15 transfer questions each
  • One structurally validated Practice Task running a full Wizard-of-Oz AI experience test end to end
